It was a really good drama. And there was always the other lightweight stuff on ITV for the lovers of pop fiction.

Yes, I thought that too, tanith! I enjoyed the dinner party scene, and was pleased that it all ended "properly", ie not fizzling out with a few limp apologies and a soppy reconciliation. I would have liked ruddy, simpering Dr Ros to be included in the final reckoning though - she seemed to get away very lightly for such a passive aggressive back-stabber (--I'd have given her-- she deserved more to worry about than her spreadsheets).

Did anyone else think that the message was 'like father like son?'. Wasn't the boy reading a slightly inappropriate magazine at the end?

I loved it and really couldn't wait for her to drop the bombshell. I loved the dinner party scene, watching him squirm sitting across from his floozie. A very good (admittedly far fetched at times) drama for a Wednesday night.

I couldn't help but think that her husband wished it would all go away and that he could go back, but there again he would have lost his financial backer in the father of the floozie wouldn't he? So I guess he deserved everything he got really. and some

I don't get this it's far fetched and could never happen bit. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". It is a drama. There have been woman doing that. Someone slashed her adulterous hubbies suits and left his wine collection on neighbours door steps. This is showing how a women can react when stressed.

As a comparison a lot of domestic abuse is perpetrated by men who start to get jealous and suspicious that wives etc are just talking to, or having affairs with other men and then act violently and in a controlling manner. That was exactly what happened in this drama.

Maybe this is just showing women behaving like some men do.

I enjoyed the last 2 episodes more. Was very sorry for their poor son having to witness all that.

I like the way she has desperately tried to keep the marriage intact, mostly for the sake of her son. I too am wondering how it's going to end. She seems to be one decent woman in a world of two faced creeps.

I've enjoyed it I like Suranne Jones admittedly the beach thing was a bit rediculous but I now need to see what happens

Wasted

Just have watch next week as I have waisted 3 hours already.....so want to know what happens. Got to be good twist at the end to make it worthwhile.

I've only watched the first episode and sorry to say agree up to now with the negative comments.
The plot is unrealistic, unless as Grannyknot says, she's meant to be cracking up due to stress and going paranoid.
Suranne Jones only seems to possess 4 facial expressions in this. I loved the Scott and Bailey series, she was much better in that.

If she had drowned Tom could marry the girlfriend and live happily ever after?? Well at least until someone else catches his eye!

Initially I was disappointed in this, as a lot of it is rather far fetched. However I'm still watching, and must say I really enjoyed episode 4. I am suspicious of her female "friend" at the health centre, don't trust her somehow. Looking forward to the next episode.

The last episode could have been interesting if she had drowned.

I wondered about the phone- being as how I can't find mine when I put it down in the living room never mind on a beach!!! Still she is now reverting to the woman scorned again. Although she did take her suspension from the practice quite calmly and the discovery that her 'friend' shopped her to the police very lightly. Did hope she had drowned at one point-but that's me!

We are enjoying it. Now she knows what a rotter he is she must be planning some dramatic revenge. That colleague (female) at the health centre hasn't been a friend, warning him she was following him, going through her bag and telling the police she had drugs.

It is a bit impossible, but there again it is only a story, and they have had to make it last the due time. The acting is quite good, and I will be interested to find out how they untangle everything. These sort of 'stories' make me realise what a really sheltered boring life I lead - never found anyone else I fancied, and I think even if I did, could not be bothered. Oh! what a tangled web we weave.

I have just seen bits of this but the complete episode tonight. Love Suranne Jones. I agree posie about finding her phone (which I predicted as soon as he set off down the beach!). However I also agree Eloethan that being intelligent doesn't mean that you can be drawn in by a man that you think you love! Looking back in horror I put up with a string of 'other women' and this included now ex disappearing for a week to look after one child while the woman had another (both his I think!) leaving me alone with our two. Also frequent phone calls from other women looking for him. After I threw him out I had pleading calls from him referring to 'the slag I live with'! I can't believe I let it happen so am hoping that Doctor Foster finishes it better than I did.

He's looking for Suranne Jones & spots her (small) phone lying on the beach amongst the pebbles but doesn't see her walking out of the sea until the last minute??

I wasn't going to watch, was online at the beginning and half watching but got drawn in. Surreal roller coaster plot.

Gave up after week 2 and opted instead for being scared sh witless by that midwinter thingy (or something like that)

Tonight's episode was ridiculously unbelievable. I have lost interest and won't be switching on next week. Tom is the only one that stands up to any scrutiny as his character seems very realistic.

I share several of the doubts other posters have expressed but I'm still watching. My conclusion is that this is because the unpredictability keeps me guessing - and I want to know what's going to happen to poor Tom!

Not, however, in the same league as Happy Valley or even Last Tango in Halifax!
