On TV tonight, amazing interview, so much insight, compassion.

Please find the time to watch it on catch up.

Especially when she talks about "coming out" to her parents.

gillybob Sat 14-Jul-18 22:51:47

What channel please phoenix ? Will try to get it on catch up sometime next week.

Damn, can't find it listed in the Radio Times, wondering if it was change of schedule?

Sorry not to be able to help, but see if you can track it down, I think the series is called "John Bishop in conversation with...."

Squiffy Sun 15-Jul-18 00:13:14

Found it here:

Don't think so - dreadful, coarse rude woman and I can't stand him either.

BlueBelle Sun 15-Jul-18 06:48:57

Thanks so much Squiffy that was lovely I really really enjoyed that
Miriam is so much more than a coarse woman , but no one is forced to listen

seacliff Sun 15-Jul-18 07:03:43

Thanks Phoenix, I will catch up with this.

Her public persona is very coarse and unpleasant. However I saw another side of her at a funeral of a good friend, when she gave the eulogy. They had enjoyed a long friendship, and she came across as a warm, loving person. I think she puts on a bit of an act for the cameras!

stella1949 Sun 15-Jul-18 07:04:39

Something about her that I can't stand. Very fond of her own opinions.

OldMeg Sun 15-Jul-18 07:18:14

That’s hilarious stella !

OldMeg Sun 15-Jul-18 07:20:23

John Bishop raised £3.4 million for charity.

NanKate Sun 15-Jul-18 07:24:27

I shall certainly watch it. Really like MM. thanks for link Squiffy

Liz46 Sun 15-Jul-18 08:16:29

Thanks phoenix and Squiffy. I also find MM rather coarse and offensive but listened anyway and found it funny. I am only halfway through as my OH came downstairs and made faces until I switched it off so I'll listen to the rest later. Who would have thought that JB and MM would make such a good programme - chalk and cheese!

Melanieeastanglia Sun 15-Jul-18 08:59:18

I enjoyed it too. JB is someone I like and, although there are aspects of MM I'm not keen on, I think she is very talented and she came over as a compassionate and interesting woman on this programme.

Sometimes I enjoy her work and sometimes I really don't!

DanniRae Sun 15-Jul-18 09:22:36

I think John Bishop is a really good bloke - as OldMeg said made a lot of money for charity (and not in an easy way either - bike riding etc for 290 miles in 5 days!!).
Sorry I can not stand MM - she is uncouth and vulgar so won't be watching the programme.
My husband is the same Liz56 if I am watching stuff he doesn't like - makes me bl**dy cross angry

AyjayF Sun 15-Jul-18 10:19:17

I listened to the podcast. Marvellous!! Thanks so much for putting me onto this. I loved it.?

Squiffy Sun 15-Jul-18 10:43:11

I find MM too coarse, as well, but there is another side to her, which surprised me. I wonder how much of it is her being defensive, her coarseness keeps people at bay?

henetha Sun 15-Jul-18 11:01:02

I think she has a huge sense of mischief and enjoys shocking people. But yes, there is more to her than that, she is actually intelligent and articulate, and is one of those people whom I find fascinating even when shocked by her.

NonnaW Sun 15-Jul-18 11:23:02

The programme is on ‘W’, and I will definitely watch it on catch up.

kittylester Sun 15-Jul-18 11:24:49

What is 'W'?

I loved MM's trip to America.

Maggiemaybe Sun 15-Jul-18 11:34:02

Yes, her America series showed her in a different light. She toned down the show woman side and seemed genuinely interested in the people she met and in learning about the places she visited. I think John Bishop’s a genuinely good sort.

Minerva Sun 15-Jul-18 11:40:27

Thank you Phoenix and thank you Squiffy for the link to the podcast. Love MM. Reminds me of conversations with and between my teenagers. There was so much laughter in the house in those days and my son seemed to have a never ending supply of fart related birthday cards for me.

goldengirl Sun 15-Jul-18 11:52:34

I don't like her coarseness but I do like her voice. Thanks for the link.

Bellanonna Sun 15-Jul-18 12:08:12

Thanks Phoenix for the suggestion, and thanks Squiffy for the link. I could only bring it up as an audio podcast but it made enjoyable listening. I like her voice and found what she had to say interesting.

Glitterknitbaby Sun 15-Jul-18 12:09:39

I thought JBs interview With MM was very, very good. I’ve always liked MM, so what if she’s a bit vulgar and coarse at times she came across as a very likeable and intelligent woman, and the interview was both interesting and entertaining.
I come from very low working class stock so expect I cope with vulgarity and coarseness better than a lot of folk!
