On BBC2 this evening. I haven’t seen it since 1990, will I cry as I did then? Gulp. Yes. Alan Rickman , the other man I loved with a passion ?

gulligranny. I really do think so. Taking the story step by step, she is grief stricken, all she wants is him and can’t/ won’t move on. He comes back, she is estatic , she is living in two worlds, working with the living, living with the dead. He obviously loves her and those last minutes when she leaves the flat, leaves the cello, he watches from the window , a smile and tears, she is back in the real world with the living, he is with the dead. I think it is such a moving story and it had to be told slowly. Well this is how I see them ?

I love it as the acting was wonderful and I loved Alan Rickman. Huge crush. blush Some of it was filmed around Bristol, so it brings back a few happy memories. The scene in the cafe was filmed in the Orangery at the University.

Yes, I agree Anniebach.
It’s a beautiful love story.
When I first watched it I assumed that Jamie came back as a ghost with the deliberate intention to help her with her grief and move on with her life, because he had loved her so much.
That’s why he sheds a tear at the end as he knows it really is ‘the end’.

I recorded it knowing that I needed to be in the right frame of mind to watch it. Some days you need a good cry and some days you don't. Now I'm not sure if I should watch it at all - I don't want to be disappointed! confused

I think dramas now go as such a speed this could be thought of as slow 19 years on , I like the way it isn’t done at a speed ?

Thank you Anniebach and Craicon, I now see it in a different light. It is a lovely story beautifully told.

Craicon, exactly how I see it, the first time I watched it and Nina was sobbing as she talked to her therapist I had said much the same a few years before. When Jamie looked at the clouds when closing the window again one can see the two worlds , her world and his world . Sob
