Apparently, Gabrielle Drake, who plays Dr Enys's wife, is pregnant again in real life. Will we be seeing more of Horace in further episodes? I do hope so, even though he must be about 120 by now!

Is Valentine Ross's son on the quiet?

It's always implied that Valentine was the result of the rape which was toned down in that series to make out it wasn't actually rape, much to the anger of many.

Though it always seemed strange to me that George would look at Valentine’s long dark curls and immediately think “Ross” instead of just “Elizabeth”.

Valentine (and associations with love and devotion), a child born 9 months after the liaison (which George knew about if I recall correctly) and it doesn't take much to put 2 and 2 together, I suppose.

It will be interesting to see just how many politically correct topics are covered in this series, and as it is the only one not based on Winston Grahams books we are at the mercy of the political leanings of the woman writer, heaven help us!

We have already had the evils of slavery covered, and an ongoing mental health story with the dastardly George.

If so, the slavery issues could be going on for another 23 years.
We already had 'lunatic asylums' by 1810 but they were not widespread. I didn't think that Bedlam was the only one.

Capt Despard was a real life person and so was the would-be assassin of the King, Hadfield. He tried to kill George III in 1800 so presumably this series is set around that time.
