looking forward to this,,,the final series too

merlotgran Mon 22-Jul-19 20:59:08

This series is set at the turn of the century because the next book begins in 1810 (ten years later)

Debbie Horsefield is filling in the gap.

I wish they'd just stuck to the books.

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 08:32:25

There was mention of a “new century “ on Sunday so I think 1800

Jabberwok Tue 23-Jul-19 11:39:04

The fact that it's 1800 was made clear at the beginning of the first episode!
Lovely picnic on the beach, Perranporth?!!

Callistemon Tue 23-Jul-19 11:54:25

The fact that it's 1800 was made clear at the beginning of the first episode!
Well, perhaps I missed the beginning of the first episode.

I feel duly chastised though grin and will pay more attention in future

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 13:16:25

I missed that too - note to self, must do better grin

kittylester Tue 23-Jul-19 13:59:48

I thought I watched it for entertainment! grin

I wish they'd stuck to the books too, merlot

Jabberwok Tue 23-Jul-19 17:15:27

It was right at the beginning at the end of the music telling us what year it was and where we were. No chastisment intended, just information confirming a fact!!

Callistemon Tue 23-Jul-19 17:21:11

grin
I will make sure that next week I am sitting down at two minutes to nine, waiting for the start with bated breath.!!

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 19:39:52

You will be tested afterwards Callistemon - you have been warned grin

Callistemon Tue 23-Jul-19 19:40:35

Oh heck, better not fall asleep then!!
I'll record it jujst in case.

SirChenjin Tue 23-Jul-19 19:51:29

grin

Jabberwok Wed 24-Jul-19 07:49:25

Oh FGS don't be so pathetic! It only told you the place and year as an introduction to the first episode, just like many programmes do when they've been off the screen for a few months! Do grow up!

SirChenjin Wed 24-Jul-19 08:09:54

No you grow up

No YOu grow up

No YOU grow up

Etc

Callistemon Wed 24-Jul-19 09:43:24

Jabberwok I took it very lightly and was amused!

Goodness me
shock

SirChenjin Wed 24-Jul-19 10:29:39

Me too! I thought I was being light hearted and joking about my lack of attention to the wonderful Poldark - I'm not quite sure what's just happened there confused

Callistemon Wed 24-Jul-19 10:45:07

I think we need to grow up
blush

shysal Wed 24-Jul-19 11:11:51

I am not enjoying this series as much as the previous. There are several more books on which they could have based it. I also dislike the fact that, in common with other dramas these days, most of it is set in the dark!

SirChenjin Wed 24-Jul-19 12:22:46

I know what you mean shysal, much as it pains me to admit it. Perhaps it's because some of the much loved characters are no longer in it, or perhaps it's because all the political sniping seems too much like real life at the moment - either way, I'm not engaged in the same way.

Calendargirl Sun 28-Jul-19 21:41:23

I am feeling very sorry for poor George in tonight’s episode- leeches, being sick, half drowned in bath. Even Uncle looks worried.

SirChenjin Sun 28-Jul-19 21:47:54

Me too sad

Calendargirl Sun 28-Jul-19 21:48:39

Oh no, now he has escaped and running away in his nightshirt! ?

Calendargirl Sun 28-Jul-19 21:51:44

Oh thank goodness! Doctor Enys arrived in the nick of time! Thought it would be Ross saving the day.

SirChenjin Sun 28-Jul-19 21:52:39

But he’s left him at Trenwith shock

SirChenjin Sun 28-Jul-19 22:00:22

That episode was more like the Poldark I know and love smile

Gonegirl Sun 28-Jul-19 22:07:02

I am sick of Demelza's silly grin. Too much sickly sweet, finger-down-throat stuff.
