Did anyone else watch it?
Is anyone else confused?

The usual slightly dark, sometimes mumbled BBC production but spotting places we know was more interesting.

Yes I thought the same about her old car.

I really like the actress. Surprisingly I've only ever seen her once before, playing Princess Anne. Let's hope we see her again. Others are on way too much, Sheridan Smith for one.

From what I've read here, to I won't bother to try to finish watching.

I googled an explanation of the series and found the Radio Times gave a good resume. It helped. I felt annoyed by the very frequent dark scenes when I could see nothing, so I was missing quite a lot and found those scenes really frustrating.

I love the series and we watched it to the end last night. It’s great and I wont give away the ending. Her car is a Golf GTi and I wouldn’t say no to it. It will be a classic in the future as DH says they are getting quite expensive now. I have had two ordinary Golfs in the past and the best cars I have ever had. Fabulous.

Jane43 Fri 11-Feb-22 12:19:40

I stuck with it and by the end I did think it was worth watching but as I said in an earlier post I found the scenes in the dark very frustrating.

Urmstongran Fri 11-Feb-22 12:22:27

With hindsight I think it needed serious editing. Six hours for this?

Doodledog Fri 11-Feb-22 12:59:28

I enjoyed it, although the ending was a bit frustrating. I thought that it held its momentum far better than many of the dramas I've watched recently.

I think there should have been more clues to the outcome before the end (or maybe there were, but they were just too subtle for me?). In an episodic drama it's easy to forget little hints between episodes, so they need to be a bit more obvious than in a film or book, and without them we aren't carried along as easily.

Overall I'd give it 8/10 though - it was better than most of the Spring schedule so far, I think.

I was hoping for something deep being hidden by Elliott’s mother. What a posh bitch! Such put downs to ‘Sasha’. And how crass of her to say in front of her own daughter that Chloe was “like the daughter I never had”.
Oof!

Doodledog Fri 11-Feb-22 13:46:13

I agree that Elliot's mother was awful, but none of the characters were particularly likeable, were they?

Some of the clothes, too - considering the budgets they presumably had, there were some shocking outfits!

PinkCosmos Fri 11-Feb-22 13:57:26

I thought the clothes looked like some of the ones in Killing Eve. Maybe it's the fashion grin.

I enjoyed it more as a binge watch as I wouldn't have been able to remember all of the little details week to week.

Urmstongran Fri 11-Feb-22 13:58:26

I think you can pay a lot of money to look stoopid. Fashion houses/designers and ‘the Emperor ‘s new clothes’ comes to mind. The more garish in colour and design often screams money.

Tina49 Fri 11-Feb-22 14:45:36

I agree about the clothes - Becky / Sasha had a lovely figure, but often dressed like a Panto dame hmm

I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but I’m still confused about the money?

Tina49 Fri 11-Feb-22 15:11:53

Thanks for the PM! I won’t ask any more questions in case it spoils it for anyone!

Tina49 Fri 11-Feb-22 15:13:21

Elliot’s mother was awful - maybe that’s why he was a bit unhinged. Scary to think he was trying to become an MP!!

Saw the last episode last night. I had to keep rewinding to work out what was being said - my TV or bad diction? Also pausing to try & make out the small mobile phone shots. If anyone knows what happened do please post.

Bellanonna Sun 13-Feb-22 14:54:40

On balance I can’t say I really enjoyed the series despite excellent acting from Erin Doherty. There were lots of dark scenes and I still don’t know where the money came from, but I think I just missed something there.

Atqui Mon 14-Feb-22 22:11:47

Watched episode 5 tonight . Wish they wouldn’t keep showing scenes in darkness!

GrannyRose15 Mon 14-Feb-22 22:31:59

Finished it tonight. I agree with everything said about the dark and the mumbling but think the whole thing was pretty good and, in a way, true to life. Had my suspicions from about half way through but didn't guess the ending until almost the end which is the sign of a good drama for me.

Callistemon21 Mon 14-Feb-22 23:20:16

I wish they wouldn't keep showing signs, phone messages etc that we can barely read or don't have time to read.

I thought I was a fast reader but most are barely legible (too dark) or gone in a flash.

Atqui Tue 15-Feb-22 09:34:07

It’s difficult to discuss a drama when everyone is at a different stage isn’t it? We can’t talk about the episodes especially the ending til it’s aired in real time . I think there are two more Sunday night ones to go ??

Farzanah Tue 15-Feb-22 09:38:06

I don’t binge watch just see each episode as shown. I completely agree about phone messages Callistemon this and filming in the dark seems de rigueur in modern dramas at the moment. Fashion will pass……..hopefully.
The expensive “party clothes” are not something I’d ever go out in even if young and rich. The extra wide shoulders look as if the coat hanger’s been left in.

In some films they show the text message on the screen - like a subtitle. I wish they had done this.

We have a big telly but I still struggled

What do you all think about it now, I have seen up to episode 3 inclusive and can't stop watching it, it is so intriguing now.

TerriBull Sun 20-Feb-22 13:34:07

Given a lot of negative impressions on this thread, I thought I wouldn't bother, but a couple of friends told me they really liked it, so I thought I'd give it a go. One and a half episodes in, reasonably intrigued, do agree about the scenes filmed in relative darkness, can barely see anything, will continue with it this evening.

Millie22 Sun 20-Feb-22 16:51:52

I'm on episode 4 and I've no idea what's going on! but it's very intriguing. I'm hoping I can work it all out before the end.

Urmstongran Sun 20-Feb-22 17:06:07

Because I finished it ages ago it’s receding into the back of my memory bank now‼️
I do think it needed serious editing because, although I enjoyed it at the end I thought ‘what⁉️ SIX HOURS for this denouement in the last 15 minutes?’

Anyway I’m into ‘Inventing Anna’ now.
9 x 1hr episodes and it’s brilliant! Better than ‘Chloe’ in my humble. I’m hooked so plan to watch it on and off all next week. There is a thread running on it too.

Enjoy Chloe those sticking with it. ?
