I remember my Mum watching Wimbledon, curtains drawn, a salad tea.
How do I develop a thicker skin?.
US troops forced to act on the ground?
Beauty treatments- which do you have?

Just thought it might be an idea to have a thread for sharing thoughts and comments this Wimbledon fortnight for those who follow.
Thinking too of Lucca, tennis' no.1 fan.

They all sound as if they’ve been trained by Alan Partridge (who was originally a sports correspondent on The Day Today) to us!

There was inevitably ‘interference’ on our television set, in the form of heavy ‘snow’ hiding the players, and the picture moving up the screen, as it broke the ‘horizontal hold’!
We still watched it and had the salad tea, though!

Not in the least bit interested. I know I'm not the only one.
The BBC is obsessed with it, should have it's own sports channel.
I like the tennis but yes, I really don't know why the BBC doesn't use BBC3 as a dedicated sports channel instead of the absolute rubbish alternative programmes they broadcast on there aimed at an age group which wouldn't watch it anyway.

I wonder sometimes whether BBC commentators are paid by the word. Incessant wittering in what appears to be an attempt to fill every second of airtime. Sometimes interesting, sometimes just talk for the sake of it. Queens and Eastbourne were classic examples.
The mute button chez Ixion is well used.I miss Dan Maskell.
Oh I say 😔
Me too.
Dan Maskell - total legend. Tennis fans understand what is happening on court as he well knew no need to explain . Still miss the "Oh I say ... "
So wish someone would pull the mic. on Sam Smith, she annoys me intensely , can't shut up !!
I absolutely love watching tennis and Wimbledon has come just right as I have been stuck in the bedroom for the last 6 days with a severe bout of gout in my foot. The tennis is a welcome distraction. I'm afraid Tracy Austin's voice does wind me up somewhat and Andrew Castle is useless in my opinion. I don't know if he's commenting this year but Mark Petchey really sends me in sane. He barely uses either of the players names and refers to them by their age "great shot from the 23 year old" "First double fault of the match for the 26 year old" I seriously want to lamp him one 😃

🤣🤣🤣🤣
sharonarnott I can remember when Tracey Austin was playing - I didn't like her much then, and now........ I can't stand listening to her, her voice is just awful.
I really hope (I'm so great) smug Djokovic is beaten by Carlos Alvarez who seems quite lovely - we need someone unassuming to take the lovely Roger's place. It's so not the same without him playing - and Rafa too.
Brilliant tennis but...can I stay awake?
Speaking of irritating commentators, there are two who particularly get me fuming, Sam Smith is the worst, she mutters drearily and inaudibly; 'treats' us to endless streams of pointless gossip about the players; and if I hear her say "out here" one more time.....grrr! For pity's sake woman, speak up, tell us something we can't already see for ourselves or just shut up! The other annoying one is an Australian woman who just drones on and on barely drawing a breath..I just have to mute the TV. And don't get me started on John Inverdale....!
I love Wimbledon, but some of these commentators can just ruin the entire fortnight. Typical BBC these days...forever over-egging the cake.
Love watching tennis but often wonder who the commentator is referring to when they don’t use the player’s name. Tracey Austin is the pits, can’t stand her accent although it’s not because she’s American as enjoy Macs. Don’t bother watching smug Djokovic find his matches boring.

Not with your foot, it could hurt you more than him!!
Seriously, I had gout when I was young, not through drink because it started when I was pregnant and continued for all the months I was breastfeeding. It could have been caused by a change in my diet and it made me shout out with the pain. When I stopped feeding DC, I was able to have a cortisone injection into my toe joint which did the trick.
I used to assume that gout was drink related but it is just a form of arthritis. I think drink can exacerbate it in some cases.
Yes, it’s a build up of uric acid in the blood which forms crystals around the joints.
Totally fed up of seeing Wimbledon advertised on the tv all and every day, not everyone likes tennis.
Watching Eubanks for the first time. He looks so laid back.
Great match though.

I'm fed up with BBC adverts altogether!
It's like a commercial channel now.

Yes it is!
I was cheering on Tsitsipas but now I don’t think I mind who wins. They are both so entertaining.
Hubert Hurkacz certainly pushed Novk Djokovic!

They're both so quick!!
Eubank a worthy winner and so entertaining but sad to see Tsitsipas go out.
Eubank 6’7”! You do wonder how tall players will get.
Wow! Fantastic match Eubanks and Tsitsipas. At first I was cheering on Tsitsipas but - call me fickle - I changed allegiance because Eubanks has a twinkle about him and I didn't know of him before but found I really liked him (and the tennis was great!) A very exciting match.

Agreed Callistemon 100%.
What's stopping them showing us play in progress (or results) from other lesser matches?
Apart from self-aggrandisement ...
