Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright and sunny here in Brackley this morning .
Today for me a quiet day of housework , shredding etc , followed by cycling on TV this afternoon.
Mind you watching cycle races , seems in Europe as very touchy area, with maybe key races being postponed or channelled n France and Belgium etc , due to covid outbreaks this 3rd wave could easily enter UK .
Take Care,
Mick

Pittcity I forgot to say we find Viakal bathroom gel is good. It’s thick, not like the usual spray. Squirt it on and leave it to work. I tie a little plastic bag with gel in the corner onto the tap spout, to soak off the scale that builds up there.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Ashcombe Thu 25-Mar-21 09:07:56

Marydoll: Please keep on posting as you have done since you have an engaging style and your positivity shines through the difficulties you face. Everyone on this thread has a place in which to feel free to be themselves, much like being in the company of close family or good friends. I love it! ?

Good Morning all , grey and damp out there ! I should check the greenhouse for seedlings , maybe later ?
My mind won’t settle on anything , I have three crochet projects on the hook , I got bored with one , dot like the second and started the third as it is a different pattern to anything else I’ve done !
I started to read the “one up manship” thread but definitely didn’t recognise our Epistle Writer !
Keep up the good work Marydoll xxx

I’m late to say good morning everyone! We have beautiful sunshine this morning in south Manchester. I can see it has rained during the night though. Reminds me of a friend who lives in Malaga. Whenever one of the locals would say ‘ah but we need some rain for our reservoirs’ she would say ‘it can rain all it likes for me between midnight and 7am!’

We are off to pick up my stepfather after lunch to take him for his follow up appointment post cataract surgery. He has done very well administering his own drops four times a day and has had an excellent result. He has asked for a routine eye test as well as he knows he needs new spex and there was no point getting any until after his op.

Right, time for my second cuppa. Goody- I’ve just heard a Himself filling the kettle! I shall settle down to read all 55 ? posts already up! This has become such a popular thread hasn’t it? Thank you Mick.

Hope Thursday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning all. 7° and cloudy in Polmont today. It's been raining off and on since yesterday evening and it looks like more of the same.
I was fairly productive yesterday. I put a gammon in the slow cooker and made a loaf to last me til Tesco delivery on Saturday. Then I visited mum who was full of woe but cheered up. The afternoon was an hour and a half blethering to friends via WhatsApp. Good fun.
I have no idea what I did but I slept really well! One wake at five and the next I knew it was half eight. That is unheard of. So I'm not long up and about to have my second cup of coffee. My aunt and uncle are coming over to inspect some wood I have for their woodstove. They were supposed to do it on Saturday but forgot. That's the height of excitement in my day.
Ashcombe I have memories of visiting a friend of my exh's family in Babbacombe when we were on holiday in Ilfracombe. It was over 35 years ago! I thought it to be a charming village bedecked with flowers. How lovely your flowers are too. Marydoll what a strange thing for that poster to write! I have never had a sense of oneupmanship from you or anyone on this thread. I love the stories of everybody's lives. We are all the same and different and I find that fascinating. Keep posting. Pittcity I have never had issues with lime scale. I think Scottish water is soft? It sounds like a pain! You sound like you're making a mark on your new house. Alygran the photos of the Moors look lovely. I have a longing for high places and the sea. Hopefully I can soon go to both. Oopsadaisy well done to your daughter! I hope she's not too sore today. Sheepandcattle I am going to buy a tiny pop up greenhouse as I have a small garden. My son got me tomato seeds for mother's day so I'll plant them and stick them in there.
I hope you all have a good day.

Gelisajams Thu 25-Mar-21 09:32:51

Just popped back on- Marydoll your threads are NOT one up man ship! They are interesting and a pleasure to read, and invariably bring a smile to my face often unfortunately at your expense! If you wrote a novel I’d read it, instead I enjoy your daily instalments. I’m sure I’m not alone. ?

Feelingmyage55 Thu 25-Mar-21 09:49:42

Good morning from a bright but bitterly cold north of Scotland.
I spent a lovely evening zooming with a friend which cheered me up and I slept the better for having a happy and newsfree evening.
Delighted to hear good news from tanith.
It is almost certainly too early to plant seeds even in the greenhouse here as we can get frosts even into May and not unheard of in June if the skies are very clear, so I am setting up a few early trays on the windowsills. It will look untidy but as we are not allowed visitors it hardly matters.
ashcombe. Inspired by your daughter’s thoughtfulness I have just a half an hour ago sent flowers to someone as I know it will cheer them up. “One good turn deserves another”, was my thinking.
Everyone, have the best day you can.

Roses Thu 25-Mar-21 09:52:27

I don't post on this thread but I read it every morning.

I enjoy reading everyone's news, and have a few favourite posters and MARYDOLL is one of them.

I hope you just keep on posting as usual and ignore snide comments

LauraNorder Thu 25-Mar-21 09:56:17

Good morning to you Mick and all friends on here from Anglesey. It’s a bit grey and dull but I’m a happy bunny cos the builders have arrived to strip the blue plastic from my windows. It’ll be lovely to sit and look out at green fields or the little courtyard outside the kitchen.
Congratulations on getting the second jab Pantglas, good to know our health board is keeping up. Hope everyone has theirs before long.
Didn’t see the post you’re referring to Marydoll but sounds as though some poor soul is in need of a little sweetness to dilute any bitterness. You keep on being you, we all love you on this thread.
It’s such a lovely thread, I second the thanks to Mick.
Have a good day all of you ?????

grandmajet Thu 25-Mar-21 09:57:23

Jaxjacky, I use vinegar for limescale removal. It works but your house will smell like a chip shop!

LauraNorder Thu 25-Mar-21 09:58:53

Welcome Roses, and yes I agree, Marydoll is a firm favourite here too.

Good morning everyone from a beautiful sunny day here on the east coast of Fife. Unfortunately I’m still fragile after having a faint the other day and I’m having to rest up to recover. I think I was over ambitious in cooking a tagliatelle with my dh help as a comet chef. All four rings were on the go at one time and my dh says how do you slice a mushroom? Eh give me strength. I might not be able to make lovely Yorkshire puddings but I can sure make a delicious tagliatelle. Enjoy the day all you lovely gns. flowers the end of this Covid is nearly there but still keep safe

Jaxjacky Thu 25-Mar-21 10:14:12

Grandmabatty/you may want to wait a bit planting out, we’re S Hants and this forecast is showing snow for the 7th!

Grammaretto Thu 25-Mar-21 10:14:20

Agree about Marydoll's posts. They are always interesting.
Although her tablet making ability is a bit jealous-making. I have tasted the real thing so that could be construed as oneupmanship or at least boasting!!
I hope you keep posting for as long as you want to.

Kalu Thu 25-Mar-21 10:27:44

Marydoll, I know you too well to know the hurtful post on that ridiculous thread doesn’t apply to you. Those type of posts upset many who are left wondering, ‘does she mean me?’ Don’t give it any more thought. ?

Urmstongran Thu 25-Mar-21 10:29:03

I’ve read all the posts (lovely, thank you all). Marydoll what a horrible thing to have on your mind dear lady. Please don’t give it another thought. You are definitely one of our favourite posters! I was the one who termed your engaging ‘prolific’ (in a good way!) ‘novellas’ and they are, because they are so humorous and interesting. Please continue.

Now then Roses I find you have channelled my latent inner competitiveness now ... wondering whether or not I feature on your ‘favourite posters’ list? I’m not one to curry favour but please accept a big bunch of these ? from just me.
??

Another here who really misses gillybob. Do you read our posts lovely lady? If you do, please please come back.

EllanVannin Thu 25-Mar-21 10:36:13

Good Morning All x Phew ! By the time I've gone through the posts I've forgotten who's who and who said what grin

Anyway the sun's trying its best here on the Costa Mersey and at present it's 10 degrees----double figures indeed.
It was definitely heating up yesterday as 3 of us neighbours were chatting outside in the sun for nearly 3 hours. Fab.

A lovely start to the morning with Ashcombe's flowers and the lovely thought behind them. Flowers are always acceptable I think.

I must dump my frost-bitten geraniums from their pot today and bag them for the bin before tomorrows collection.
I'm waiting for the lily-of-the-valley plants to arrive so that I can put them in the empty pot.
I'd had the geraniums for years and they gave a lovely display of flowers every year, but I know they don't last forever, especially during a hard frost.

Washing will have to be done too while the going's good, weatherwise and this will just about fill my day. No food shopping needed until just before Easter, tail end of next week perhaps.

I must have missed remarks which were said on a thread or I'd have fired back and probably got another ban grin
I love Marydoll's posts and confess to tittering at times at some of the antics of her DH who puts me in mind of my own dear old dad. Keep 'em coming girl. smile

Thoughts to Louis post-op. and hope it went well x

Thinking of others who aren't up to the mark---as if times aren't bad enough without being unwell too.
Our Gilly would be cheering on for Good Friday and that extra day off if she was here. Hope all's well for her x.

Hope all appointments go well for everyone. Have a good day and stay safe. xx

Taichinan Thu 25-Mar-21 10:37:54

Good morning everyone, and I'm late again. No posts read as yet, but I can report a cold grey day on the Angus coast.
In spite of the weather a friend wants to come up for some tai chi. A hardy soul obviously but it will get us acclimatised for tai chi on the beach next week perhaps.
Today I shall post the announcement of the beach escapade on our FB page and also get it put up on our web site. It's then a case of 'wait and see', but I imagine a good few will be itching for something to do after all this time!
Apart from that, nothing else interesting happening chez moi. Normal housework and finalising tomorrow's Tesco order, but that light at the end of this particular tunnel is shining brightly now. I even have a hair appointment booked for April 17th!
Have a good day everyone. ????

Grandmafrench

Good Morning everyone from a deep blue-skied South of France with wall to wall sunshine.

GrannyGravy - you know the saying “no news is good news?” That might avoid us all unnecessary worry but I take that literally sometimes. No news for me these days is me refusing to read one more tale of the rollercoaster of doom which runs through the media every day and can destroy our natural optimism, our zest for life, our motivation at one fell swoop. A day or two away from all that rotten news, I find, really helps. Give yourself a break, maybe, and allow emotions to get back on an even keel. And, if you aren’t able to change what’s happening, stepping back might just bring a bit of blessed relief. Hope your wobbles get the old heave-ho today! ?
sheep you’re allowed a greenhouse. Lovely for you. Bit concerned that the words ‘wallpapering table’ were mentioned! Hope that’s just a useful surface for your seeds and not another job on your list. All free time should be spent in your garden with a radio and little Pinchy for company.?

Love, love Freesias, Ash, a lovely thought. Is it likely your Mojo has travelled all that way, gelisa? Maybe your DH will come across it and bring it home to you. Enjoy your trip!?

Had an unexpected trip out yesterday evening. I defied the curfew and escaped quite unexpectedly on a TV prog., covering a 7 mile hike along the Cleveland Way to Whitby. I was blown away by the sheer grandeur of the scenery, the sweep of coastline, of beautiful farmland almost to the footpaths near the cliff edges. Imagine climbing over 200 steps in some places to follow the contours of the land where it seemed that the walker (an artist) had the world to herself. I was thrilled to see a place unknown to me and not have to share the views with loud commentaries, even louder Muzak and background noise. Real escapism. Possibly why I always find brook’s lovely photos so uplifting - being outside now is so important for our emotional well being, I feel.

Today I shall wash the floors. My dear dog will have her hairdresser visit today. No difference in our routine. She arrives in ? and parks her ‘work trolley’ next to a big garden table in our courtyard. Chloe stands on the table to be stripped etc., and then the groomer takes her into the shower and shampoos and dries her. She is then brushed outside. The dog loves the groomer, we can chat outside from a distance if we want. I clean when she’s gone. Everyone happy, especially the dog who then spends quite some time racing into and under big shrubs after our other dog - to show she doesn’t place too much importance on personal grooming, thanks ?. A darling dog we had years ago used to give us maybe 20 mins of admiring her new loveliness when we’d driven her back from the groomers and then would creep off if she could, to stand in the lake and wag her tail and bark. Can’t imagine what she was saying about pampering sessions and country ? dogs!

Hope everyone feeling poorly feels better today. Especially, Auntieflo, Mary daisy in Portugal, cherry and posters who aren’t currently up to posting. GM hugs to you all. To those who are struggling or sad, to those who have family worries, may today be brighter and filled with endless ????? and as many ????? as you need. Let’s all try to look towards the light, keep on going and find some small thing today to lift any flagging spirits.

Warm wishes to you all.Get well, Louis and get strong Iris.

Have a good day, folks. ?‍♀️??

Love the dog grooming stories ,* Grandmafrench.*

Good morning all, another sunny day in Lancashire ?. I slept quite well last night, it makes such a difference. I have been struggling lately with balance and co-ordination on top of the usual issues, it’s so unpredictable. It’s difficult to make plans when you don’t know if you will be fit enough to carry them through. All of you with a chronic condition will know what I mean. It has kept me indoors as I can’t walk safely.

Yesterday was quite a good day and I managed to get out for a very short walk. My legs felt like jelly by the time I was home even though it wasn’t far. Found some lovely daffodils growing at the side of the path so took this photo to share. Also did some laundry, nothing beats the smell of fresh line dried linen.

I love reading all your news, hearing what you’ve been growing, baking, cooking and buying. I have just ordered myself a lovely summer maxi dress from Weird Fish as I will be going somewhere this summer, even if it’s just a sandwich and a drink in the park with Mr. B.

Please keep on sharing your news, on days when I can only post hello and goodbye it’s so uplifting. I like to know how you all are and hearing how your families are doing.

Hope things go well for you all today and any troubles are eased.

Yes you are actually!

I once posted about my young granddaughter singing solo in the cathedral and you were the only person who commented since then I've always enjoyed your Malaga tales
