To wonder why famous people feel they have to over share personal stuff

Do we still use the term "ladies" in the context of stand up comics it rather conjures up the smelling salts of a bygone era, I won't say pearl clutching because these days wearers of pearls brings to mind Harry Styles, who is often pictured with a string or two round his neck, whether he clutches them who knows?

For some context, this performance was on tv not in a club which would presumably have only adults in the audience. The programme went out at 9 pm. Casting my mind back to when my children were say older primary school age, on a Saturday evening they may well have been in the living room with us as around that time as I imagine other kids might be with their parents. With that in mind, Katherine Ryan's banter included how she still gives her husband blow jobs as well as what I already posted. Yes I'd say that was massively over sharing from either a male or female comedian you can take your pick.

This is the character she has chosen, created and grown in order to make money through comedy. Yes it's vulgar and rude and off the cuff but so is a lot of other stand up comedians work.I don't find her offensive at all. I think there are some double standards wrt male v female comedians

I have just found some of her voiceovers of Nicola Sturgeon, very funny.

Victoria Wood was funny. Hylda Baker was funny. Joan Rivers was funny. This is just my opinion. I have never thought French and Saunders are funny, either together or separately, nor Sarah Millican, or Mel and Sue. Comedians like Michael 'I pull a silly face therefore I am funny' McIntyre are not for me. Each to their own. Our daughter loves McIntyre, Jimmy Carr and others. It's all personal taste.

Whether you like some and not others, that is their job, to make us laugh. Sometimes it is crude, and will offend some people. Jane Godley is indeed hilarious- but she is, like many comedians or comediennes, a bit 'Marmite'.

But the title of this thread just does not apply.

I too think there are double standards for men v women in the comedy world.
I do find Ross quite an unpleasant character though and I am surprised he still has so much air time.
