Good morning Mick and all from a chilly Glasgow, where its only 2°C. It was so cold last night that we needed the heating on.
GM, I'm sorry to hear you under the weather, hoping there is an improvement today. Ashcome, how fortunate you are to have a cardiologist who is right on the ball. Hopefully the MRI appointment will arrive soon.
I had a surprisingly pleasant day yesterday. By the time I got up, DH had already moved and replanted one of my raised veggie beds, to make way for the new decking work, despite appearing to dismiss the idea previously. I learned long ago, to plant the seed of an idea and let it germinate slowly!
He then surpassed himself by actually sweeping up, that's a first!! ?
Much to my surprise, DH agreed to make bread, (after the usual huffing and puffing) as we had run out. I sent a photo to my children, as DH is infamous for his non culinary skills. The reply I got back from DD was: WOW! I remember mum, when you were away on residential courses and dad always made us burnt square slice sausage, which was raw in the middle! ?
It has only taken forty three years to train him, my work is almost done. I blame the trainer, she has been a useless teacher. ?
In addition to that, he built my new, wooden linen box, without any prompting. It arrived when he was in the garden and I foolishly thought I could build it myself. However, after unpacking, I realised it was too heavy for me and I didn't have the dexterity to do the fiddly bits. ☹
I had gone for a lie down, coming back down to find it assembled. I have given that man a day's annual leave today, he truly deserves it. ?
The day got even better, when I received a text from a long lost cousin, my number being passed on by another close cousin. Many years ago, I was sent to stay with she and her four siblings, when my mother, became very ill, when pregnant with my brother. I was overwhelmed at the time, as I was an only child and had never been away from my parents, nor been in such a busy and noisy household. I have never forgotten her kindness. The last time I saw her was at my mum's funeral, nearly twenty years ago.
I hardly knew my large number of cousins, it took three buses and a train journey, to visit my mum's home town, where her family lived and money was always very tight. My cousin had found old photos of my mum and me as a baby and wanted to share them with me.
The best part of all was a surprise video call from Dollie. What joy!
My DIL is trying to start a small cake making business and had left some samples on the doorstep for us to try. I had been in bed, so by the time I got to the door, she was already next door in her mum's driveway. I think she must have been shocked at how unwell I looked (another cover up on my part) and told my son. Some of you already know the story of my son and DIL's estrangement from us all last year, so between that and shielding, I haven't been able to have the conversation with them yet.
I think my recent heart attack gave them an awful shock and wake up call, he has realised time is running out.
Nothing much planned for today, just pottering about. I did try to take the photo of the Blackpool Illuminations, but the security lights kept coming on. Ever ingenious, I then attempted to hang out the bedroom window to photograph them, but nearly dropped my tablet on the conservatory roof! ? DH would have love that disaster!
You will just have to use your imagination! Tacky is probably an accurate description of the display. ?
Thank you all for your very kind words, I feel as if a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders. You really are a lovely group!
Wishing you all a very pleasant and hopefully, minimally (is that an actual word? ) pain free day, today. ?
PS, A WORD OF WARNING, I REPORTED A POSTER LATE LAST NIGHT LAST NIGHT ON TWO THREADS ABOUT ROMANTIC SCAMS. PLEASE BE WARY!
