A joyful Eastertide to one and all from a peaceful, chilly Torbay. It’s a great shame that the weather isn’t conducive to being outside for long when some are meeting up in the (very!) fresh air! I liked this picture of the first Easter morning and it reminds me of the Easter hymn, “You're Alive” by Graham Kendrick, especially verse two:-
www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Tf_gYmJaig

Some good photos yesterday: a stunning sunset from Gelisajams and the flamingos were fun, Jaxjacky! And a poignant memory of your happy wedding day, BlueSapphire. You both look as if you are caught up in the happiness of the moment. ?

It’s so encouraging to read of Mr.Gaga’s daily progress and that you’re making the most of his increasing energy levels. I really think you should use your daily contributions as the basis for a book, sheepandcattle, as you have something interesting happening daily! I’m sorry Bogdon isn’t well but hope Popeye will thrive.

As ever, I am humbled by the many kind and supportive comments about my long distance marital arrangements. Seven years ago, when we first planned this arrangement we envisaged health issues arising, which they have in both cases when we’ve been there for the other. As Taichinan observed, we couldn’t have imagined the havoc wreaked by Covid. Nevertheless, we are thankful to have stayed well and hold on to the dream of this weirdest of times ending eventually.

Many of you have suffered illness, loss and other serious concerns and I hope the hopefulness of the Easter message brings peace and happiness. ?✝️?

Good morning Mick and all to follow. It looks pretty grey outside, no idea what is forecast in Glasgow but I don’t think we are in for such a welcomed sunny day like yesterday.

No specific plan as per usual but I’m sure something will turn up to keep me occupied. Good news from DD1, 45, she has received an appointment for her vaccination on 8th April. ?

Hope everyone manages to have a relaxing trouble free Sunday.

Gelisajams Sun 04-Apr-21 06:38:39

A very Happy Easter from a calm grey Morecambe Bay where it is grey and calm and the dawn chorus is in full voice. Just off to early outdoor church so will catch up later. Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good morning from north Surrey where we are promised sunshine but another cold day.
I enjoyed watching the service from Kings College, Cambridge on TV yesterday.
Lovely to see travelsafar and Georgesgran back with us and feeling up to posting yesterday
Goodness Sheep there is never a dull moment in your life, I do hope Popeye recovers from his incident and that you can claim recompense for Bogdon if he doesn’t pick up.
I am working this afternoon so shall have a quiet morning dog walking and some Pilates stretching.
Happy Easter Day to all ???

Lins1066 Sun 04-Apr-21 06:43:36

A Happy Easter Day to you Mick and all. A most beautiful pink streaked sunrise here on our corner of the South Welsh coast. A beautiful sunny day yesterday too, though the wind was keen, we went for a walk with the puppy avoiding the many visitors to our seaside town.
Mr Lins is going to finish teak oiling the garden furniture today, not sure what I'm going to do except enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Hope those meeting up with family have a lovely day.
Pork and leek sausages with onion gravy on the menu here.
Stay safe everyone. Hope Cherry and Mary are feeling better and Happy Easter to all our missing friends.

grandMattie Sun 04-Apr-21 06:46:58

He is risen. Happy Easter ? to everyone!
Good morning from a grey, not quite drizzling E Kent. It is till cold, still grey, we might get some sun ☀️ tomorrow.
It is interesting how Covid has concentrated people’s minds, Ash, re. health and relationships, contact and lack of it. I hope that both health and seeing your husband are resolved.
Sheep, hope poor Popeye gets better soon - what else could you call him/her? And Bogdon? Have you any comeback from the vendor? Can you borrow a bull? Not have one will cause a lot of problems, won’t it?
Virtual church again today. I won’t go to church until we don’t wear masks. The last time we went, the atmosphere of terror and hostility as though we were murderers if we presumed gong 1 inch inside the 6ft distance, was absolutely horrible. I can’t pray if I’m feeling angry and hurt.
Lovely roast lamb for dinner tonight. For those who have forgotten, it is the Passover lamb, when the Jews were told to put a cross of blood on their doors so the angel of death would “pass over” their firstborn sons. Lesson over.
Hope you have sunshine ☀️ in your lives today, physically and metaphorically . May you find a ?or ??. ??❤️

Happy Easter to you all! I only had time to skim through yesterday’s posts but I’m sending you all best wishes, especially those with difficulties or sadness.
Today is a Red Letter Day for me......... my eldest son, lovely DiL and my wonderful, funny 3 year old GD are coming for the day! ? I haven’t seen them since August due to lockdown and all Christmas plans being cancelled so I’m terribly excited! Little GD is bringing her doctor’s kit with her in order to check over any sick lambs so Popeye will be receiving top notch veterinary care! GD loves using her doctors bag to check over her cuddly toys are after examining each one normally declares that they’re ‘probably ok’!! I hope Popeye receives this ringing endorsement! I shan’t ask her to check out Bogdon the bull though! I’ve got the mini Easter eggs to hide in the garden this morning before they arrive and my lovely friend has made me a veggie chilli to serve up at lunch time ( we are all veggies apart from my DH) as she knows I’m no cook! My DiL has just started her nurse training so I’m looking forward to hearing all about that and my son and I love having a good political debate so I think it’s going to be a lovely day !?. Son told me last night how excited little GD is that she can come today - apparently, when she’s asked who her favourite person is in the whole world, she still says ‘Nana Sheep’ ? ?. She’s definitely one of my most favourite people in the whole world too! Sorry.... I’m rabbiting on but I’m SO EXCITED!! ???

Happy Easter to everyone. I hope you have a good day and enjoy any family visits or calls you may have. Im serving a traditional leg of lamb with the usual veg and it has to be Yorkshire pudding even though its not traditional. Its very misty here in canal land but we hope it will brighten later for lunch on the patio.

Happy Easter Everyone!?️
Lovely, joyful post Sheep, your last few words really made me smile! ?

grandmajet Sun 04-Apr-21 07:15:44

Happy Easter everyone, from a bright, potentially sunny, Nottinghamshire.
I can feel the happiness coming through your post, sheep, I hope the day is as wonderful as you are hoping. Your granddaughter sounds such fun. I’m sure she will sort out Popeye with her doctor skills!
We had a lovely garden visit from our son and his wife yesterday, with unexpected sunshine helping us out. In the past week we have seen all four of our children and all four of our grandchildren, we are so lucky.
A big Easter ? for you all, and for those separated from loved ones, ?? it won’t be long now until you can see them again.

Good morning from Derbyshire. It's cold and clear at the moment - looks like we've had a light frost - but it's set to warm up to a pleasant 15° during the day.

There's much excitement for us this morning as we're having our annual Easter egg hunt at the field for our two DGS's. DH and I will go up early to set it up ready for their arrival at 9.30. They're 7 and 5 now so we'll spread it out and get them running around between all the suitable hiding places. Afterwards SiL will cook bacon and sausages for all on a campfire.

Later I might continue with the weeding. DH was busy faffing making covers for the outdoor garden seat pads from plastic sheeting yesterday while I weeded alone, so progress was slower than expected hmm. I hope they last the summer after all the effort he's put into it! I have more seeds to sow but will wait a few days until the cold snap is over to give them a better start.

It was lovely to see travelsafar and Georgesgran posting again yesterday.
Poor little Popeye. Another sweet lamb for us to root for. Hope he recovers well.
I smiled at Dollies escapades in the garden. What a nice afternoon that was for you Marydoll
BlueSapphire loved the wedding photos. Happy memories.

Hope everyone enjoys their Easter Sunday ?????. I may not have any flamingos, but am certainly not lacking in bunnies and chicks!

brook2704 Sun 04-Apr-21 07:25:48

Happy Easter to everyone from Inverness where it’s still dry but rain and much colder weather due to roll in later. Yesterday was quite warm, about 14ºC and wall to wall sunshine so we made the most of it and were out walking for most of the day.
Such a lovely post sheep I hope you enjoy your very well deserved day with your family!
I’m looking forward to having a video chat with DS later today, don’t think I’ll get to see him for a while yet.
For everyone having family catch ups have a lovely day, and thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today I’d gentle and take care all whatever the day brings. Flamingos for all ???

cornergran Sun 04-Apr-21 07:28:11

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny, frosty and decidedly chilly corner of Somerset.

A quiet day ahead in corner land, a little garden preparation and a lot of sitting in the conservatory.

Hope everyone has something to uplift spirits today.

Sar53 Sun 04-Apr-21 07:28:23

Good morning from another grey day in Essex by the sea.
Sheep have a lovely day with your family, I feel your excitement ??.
DH's grandson's rugby starts again this morning so we are going along to deliver Easter eggs. It's all outside so some socially distanced chatting will be going on.
Roast chicken later and a nice glass of fizz to go with it.
A Happy Easter to you all xx

Beechnut Sun 04-Apr-21 07:36:25

Good Morning and a welcome back from me here on Severnside. We’ve had a frost overnight and a bright sun is streaming through the window.

Belated wedding anniversary wishes BlueSapphire. My wedding dress was very similar in style to yours with the sleeves and also the same colour flowers. I hope your lucky socks worked there magic for you yesterday.

I know your story wasn’t funny Sheep but it did make me smile when you named your lamb Popeye after all that happened.

Yesterday’s work was put on hold and I shall be pottering and enjoying the sunshine today. I’ve two new books to so will chose one to read. A lamb shank and veg later.

Enjoy your days with loved ones all, such precious times ?

Happy Easter everyone! It's a cold but sunny start here on the south coast. 0.5c on my weather station at 6am.

We had a joy filled visit from DGD1, along with her lovely boyfriend, yesterday. We sat in the garden and heard all about her first year at university and plans for next year. As I had guessed, she and her BF are going to flat share, probably with another couple. They are such a good match for each other and he fits in with our family so well. We are both very happy for them and DH was given another boost to his recovery, which now continues apace.

Loved the excitement in your post Sheepandcattle - you were positively fizzing with the excitement of the family visit later!

It seems such a shame that the pandemic means that you are having to cope with your semi-detached marriage, Ashcombe and I admire you so much for the calm and positive way you make it work. It will be a joyful reunion when the time comes, I feel sure. flowers

Our agenda is blank for the rest of the day but we have lots to be thankful for and will do our best to dwell on that.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

GrannyGravy13 Sun 04-Apr-21 07:41:33

Happy Easter Mick and all

Looking chilly outside. DD and her boys are coming for dinner, the 6 yr old has asked for Christmas Easter Dinner so that is what we have complete with pigs in blankets after seeking out where the Easter Bunny has hidden treats.

Wishing you all a peaceful day.

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️??

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 04-Apr-21 07:42:23

Good morning all from bright sunny Harrogate
DD has announced she will test herself for COVID, if OK she and DGS will be here this am. I’m excited!! Can understand sheep being so excited, though I saw them last Wednesday!! Lovely photo Ashcombe
I hope I manage the virtual church today. It’s promising to be hectic here!
HAPPY EASTER everyone, not too much chocolate!!
Have the best day you can have, tomorrow is another day!!

NanKate Sun 04-Apr-21 07:43:17

Good Easter Morning Mick and All.

Thank you Ashcombe for the beautiful picture. I will check out the Easter Hymn on his special day.

Some good news I have heard from our dear Gillybob who is remembered by so many on this thread. Here is her message to you. ‘Please pass on my love and very best wishes to all my Gransnet friends and I promise I will pluck up the courage to pop in sometime soon’.

Have the best day you can especially Marydoll and those who are feeling ill or are coping with problems.

Nannagarra Sun 04-Apr-21 07:43:47

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is 6 degrees, bright and should stay dry.
Thank you for another lovely Easter picture, Ashcombe. Fingers crossed you and your DH are soon reunited.
With the attention of two vets and the strength of gran power on this site Popeye couldn’t be in a better position.
Our DGC visited yesterday afternoon. Oh how we giggled and played with the most basic of objects in the garden - they whooped with delight as we rocked them high in my washing basket. It was probably the four year old’s comment as her chunky younger brother wobbled down from a bench, ‘He’s like Humpty Dumpty,’ which made me laugh long after they’d gone.
Have a lovely Easter Sunday, some chocolate and the sighting of a flamingo.
?????

Good morning all and a Happy Easter to everyone. It's a cold start again in Polmont at 2° but again beautiful blue skies and sunshine. Yesterday ended up a warm day and it felt great to have heat. I had a visit from my cousin with various goodies to pass on and then a lovely neighbour called for a chat. I'm very fond of her and her husband. They were really welcoming when I moved in two years ago. I got lots done, inside and out yesterday.
Sheepandcattle it sounds like a wonderful family day ahead for you.
Today ds and his girlfriend are coming for dinner so I'm making boeuf bourgignon and leek and potato soup. Ds will have a veggie option. The cheesecake is made and in the fridge. And dd is bringing dgs down to see his uncle so I'm a happy mum/grandma. This morning I will deliver Easter flowers to various individuals, a tradition started by my lovely dad in the 60s and which I've tried to continue. However you intend to spend today, I hope it's a good one.
