What did you do today ?

Walked the dog for about an hour and a half, came back for breakfast then housework and washing. Lunch, then prepared dinner, wrote a letter to pop into a birthday card. Tied in some ramblers and clematis ready for the wind then sat and read.

This thread thus far has prompted me to: read the Ben Aiken book mentioned, contact a locksmith ( a conservatory door lock problem) make some peanut butter cookies, buy a new toaster, weed the drive ( at some point!) and clean the bathroom.?
Wonder what today will bring?

I'm going to try out Grandmabatty's peanut butter cookie recipe today. I've only got smooth peanut butter though. Wonder if it will work? Also I will finish off DD's tunic top and hopefully start on another outfit for GD. She wants a pair of "Nanny trousers", which are basically straight leg trousers with an elasticated waist!

So far - walked for an hour on the Downs and got blown to buggery but so exhilarating! Loved watching the clouds shadows racing across the sea.
Wasted a good hour looking for a piece of fine jewellery for DDs 50th, and decided that she needs to choose, as I got addled looking. She wants anything except emerald.
Made a pot of vegetable soup for lunch to last 2 days.
Just going to hang out the bedding and hope it doesn’t blow away.
Then going to sow some sweet corn and plant out brassicas and parsnips for next Christmas?. Then lunch

I've just finished a load of ironing. Too windy outside for gardening. Started to read The Water Babies which I have never read before.

I am shortening a pair of Levi's501 that DH doesn't want so I can wear them. We use the same waist and hip measurement, but my inner leg measurement is 27 " against his 32".

Then there is some ironing awaiting me. The rain is bucketing down, so the weeds can stay where they are in the vegetable patch.

My narrow boat home was being battered by 40 mph winds yesterday as it is today. This morning I had to go put the food back on my storage container as it had blown off. My table on jetty was on its side even though weighted with parasol holder. Lawnmower had blow over. A family with 5 goslings cheered me ip as they wandered through the garden. Mr and Mrs duck followed me round garden as I tied up until I fed them. Yesterday Mr Swan came to nibble on the willow tree. Oh and I have been working on a sewing project...giving a lampshade a new look with fabric yoyos.... Toilet cassette emptying will have to wait until tomorrow. Too windy to take it on my wagon to emptying point....

I intended to start a painting for my friend’s new bathroom. She likes the one of pebbles that I did for mine. However, I’ve been ringing my insurance company , ALL morning to find out who will be picking up my car that was hit on Saturday. They bing- bonged my call all around the country and then said they were too busy to deal with my query. ?I then telephoned the town hall to say that my postal vote hadn’t arrived and they’re getting one to me by tomorrow morning ... RESULT ! Also ‘phoned my best friend and , together, we put the universe back together.

I dream of living on a narrow boat?

Well we are packing up the house and have been doing so for the last couple of months - finding it difficult! Not so much mentally as physically. We haven't moved since 1998 (can't believe that!!) and always hired vans and moved ourselves. But ill health and disability means we have to rely on a removal firm this time and I feel very much out of control and overwhelmed. Also it seems to have happened very quickly and I've just been informed "everyone" seems to be aiming for Friday 14th May. I am having a melt down. We are moving from a 4 bed house to a 2 bed bungalow. I don't have a problem with letting things go, but hubby has a bit of a hoarding thing going on. He used to sort through the bags I'd got ready for the charity shops (when such things were open!). Can't wait for it to be over so I can get on with modernising and decorating my new home in Weston Super Mare (but would rather hibernate for the next two weeks and wake up to it all being finished!).

I went food shopping at 8.30am and hurried home to wait on a new bed arriving. It's very frustrating when they don't give you a time for a delivery, thank goodness it came at 11am so the dog could get her walk. Now sorting cupboards out cos I've 2 more drawers I can fill in the beds base.

Long chat on the phone to a friend, actually finished a painting I have been looking at for ages waiting for inspiration, carried on watching Spiral which we love, read the papers and loaded some new music onto my phone. Watched the wind and rain beating onto the windows and decided not to go out.

Well- I washed all the upstairs windows. I did downstairs yesterday.
I made 2 cakes- 1 lemon & 1 fruit.
I went to garden centre with DH- never again- he spends ages looking at everything whereas I know what I came in for & just buy it & go. Then we went to supermarket as I wanted 2 things only. I lost him in there & found him, chatting to a checkout assistant ( he usually goes in there by himself & knows everyone!)
Now we are home & he is in his study for the rest of the day until dinner time.
I will be so glad for him to get back to work!!!

Mucked the ponies out, potted on my tomato plants, weeded the garden in between showers, hoovered the kitchen and made pasta bake. Now sat reading Gransnet

Waiting for the wool to arrive for my next project, I tried out some samples of stranded knitting (aka Fair Isle) and double-sided knitting, also how to do a tubular cast-on.

Whitewavemark....you have to be physically strong for lifting coal and gas tanks and fit. I lift weights and use resistance bands as well as a half hour walkasize every day. This past Christmas I could not leave boat for two weeks because of calf deep mud and flooding. I am 70 by the way. I will sell my boat next year... Tge only thing I will miss are all my wonderful river bird friends... especially Mr and Mrs Swan who eat from my hand and the oh so sweet Mr and Mrs Duck. Oh and that should have been door not food... hahaha

Went to the local hospital for a blood test this morning. Done very little else today, doesn’t much to send me ten left.

Yes, I love the sound of making peanut butter cookies. Delicious! I would like to try that. Any recipes to offer, please?

Went for my usual walk, about 3 miles, once home I did a bit of housework and then DH & I had coffee and cake and played Rummikub.
