Good morning from a very rainy Black Country, a bit of relief after the hot weather. Although, I had planned to bring Mum over for a BBQ! We may get the Gazebo up, as it is still quite warm and have one anyway,

Drove down to Burnham yesterday to the caravan, to do a few jobs, fit a rollout out awning. DS and family were staying there so had the chance to spend a couple of hours in the sun with them, Eldest DGD (17 soon) had opted to stay at home, so we missed seeing her. The M5 was very busy, but kept moving, so each journey took 2 hours which is a record!

Ashcombe that moment when you cannot find the car happens often to me, but once in Blackpool it really was missing as someone had stolen it! Had to spend the rest of the day reporting it and going home on the train. This was in the early 90's. Only had the car a couple of months and it was never found.

Happy birthday to MrNanKate I am sure you will have a lovely day.

Congratulations to Georgesnan flowers

Hello Fanny good to see you posting on here. Urmston you forgot the important question grin

Good morning, Michael, Deputy Maw, and all GNs. Hope you’re okay, Mick. It has been raining overnight in South Yorkshire and feels a little cooler which is a blessing. Not a lot planned for today; I may try and get some knitting done. I want to finish this sweater before we go away so I had better get my skates on.
Congratulations Georgesgran on your new grandson?! Well done Mummy!
Have a good day folks, whatever you’re doing.

Morning all from overcast West Yorks.
Congratulations on safe arrival of your DGs Georgesgran such an occasion a new addition to the family, it never fails to amaze me genetics.Found old photo of my DSs and it could easily have been their own children.Pleased to read Micks message.Birthday wishes to MrNan.
Rare occasion neither DSs and family here for tea and DH has booked to watch his rugby team this p.m. so I am considering braving it and taking myself out for a saunter with coffee and cake treat(doesnt take a lot to please).

Jaxjacky

Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants, thanks Maw and a wave to Mick. Because it’s overcast I’ve had a good long sleep, no bright sun sneaking round the curtains.
Ashcombe how is Oldudders? Not heard from him for a while.
Happy Birthday MrNanKate ?? enjoy your day and Congratulations Georgesgran on the new addition.
More allotment today with MrJ; our local has reinstated the Sunday meat draw at 5pm, so we’ll pop down for that. I’ll have a chicken bubbling away in the slow cooker ready for dinner.
Have a lovely day, whatever you’re up too, sunshine and ???for all.

How nice to be remembered! I am sitting on la terrasse finishing a late breakfast, not having had the best of nights - just sleepless, that's all. Lots of birdsong, blue sky and the two cats wandering about. Fat Cooper finished the dregs of my cereal milk, as he often does. Lola hardly gets a chance.

We had biblical rain on Thursday afternoon. Now the water was needed, certainly, bu the stair-rod intensity did no good for some of my plants, which Cleaner/Gardener Alison had only finished planting that morning! Every year we go to a nursery and select plants for the five hanging baskets and four planters. This year Alison had managed to keep some of the 2020 display alive in one of her polytunnels, so that was a bonus. Her two orphan lambs are now off the bottle, and in recent days she's had some chicks hatch, a little late, and her partner had suggested abandoning those eggs. For a farmer in his '50s he's very impatient, among other personality - er - traits.

Today there is a Grand Prix from Baku, Azerbaijan, so I will be watching that. Hopefully DW Ashcombe will have completed her kind taxi-duty for Jean and will see most of it. We WhatsApp each other when notable events occur during the race.

Happy Birthday to MrNanKate ??

Gelisajams Sun 06-Jun-21 09:45:42

Good morning from a sunny Morecambe Bay.
Enjoy your new little grandson Georgesgran
Enjoy MrNankate’s birthday Kate
I think we have all had that feeling at some point of thinking the car has been stolen Ashcombe it’s a horrible feeling. My trick used to be taking DH’s car then looking for mine. I don’t do it now as I don’t tend to drive our second vehicle which is our little campa.
Yesterday’s trip to Wigan went well and the adjustment which was needed only cost £25 so my visit to the the very reasonably priced nursery we had spotted en route the day before was very productive!
Have done exercises for the day and will walk to church shortly. It will be the last time we shall see the vicar as she is off to pastures new. She’s holding her last service next Sunday but hopefully we will be in Norfolk so will not be here.
I’m committed to looking after the vicarage garden until the new incumbent arrives which will be next Easter realistically, even if someone is appointed quickly. It’s a slow process getting a new vicar!
Take care everyone and stay safe ???

Good morning to Mick, to MawB and all from the Scottish Borders where the sun is shining. There is a very positive feel to this morning thread on the whole it is lovely to hear of your doings in various places up and down the country.
Really lovely news from Georgesgran congratulations all round. smile

Happy birthday to Mr Nan , Kate.

I am pleased that you at least enjoyed most of your day at the seaside Elizabeth1 I hope you are ok .

I am so glad that your family weekend went well gMattie and how nice to find cheap fabric for your projects.

I saw some of my family on the zoom quiz last night which amazingly we still keep going after well over a year. Last night we had to name a mountain or hill range in the UK and a song with Love in the title. Last person with an answer was the winner. Mostly we just chat.

More gardening today as it's the only day without builders next door. I had to shout at some teenagers up the scaffolding on Friday night. It must be very tempting.

Have a lovely day everyone.

cornergran Sun 06-Jun-21 10:07:08

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Jun-21 10:11:52

Good morning Mick and all (thank you Maw for staring us off)

I am being exceptionally lazy, still in bed looking at the beautiful blue sky the air is so still that our trees are barely rustling.

No plans, no idea what we shall have for dinner it’s definitely a go with the flow sort of Sunday.

Congratulations Georgesgran I totally understand the bittersweet feelings, my Mum tried so hard to love to see AC No.4’s first child, unfortunately she died just six weeks beforehand, our GD has her name and the same colour eyes.

( Marydoll please don’t let other threads get to you* )

Enjoy your day whatever your plans

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 06-Jun-21 10:13:20

Alizarin wishing you well for your op tomorrow ?

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 06-Jun-21 10:27:05

Good Morning all from cloudy Harrogate. This is my 2nd attempt - we've been having internet problems and yesterday DH decided he could fix it - Never knew he could!! He couldn't, we ended up with no internet and guess who had to spend 1 hour to virginmedia unsuccessfully trying to sort it. Apparently we have a technician coming n Wednesday. Note to Mick, never let my DH try to sort your internet problem if we are in the area!! Eventually he manage to get a TV working, and the internet comes and goes!!
Ash you have reminded me of the time I drove from Wokingham to Reading, and couldn't remember which car park I'd left the vehicle in! I found it in the one next to Reading Jail!! (that was baby brain not working). Another time I'd picked up a courtesy car in Glasgow and driven into the city. I parked it in the Savoy car park, did my shopping, got back to the car park and couldn't remember what make my car was! I knew it was red (as where half the cars at that time). After a bit of detective work I tracked it down.

Hoping for a trip to Homebase to see if I can get sone paint. Won't be able to view church until this afternoon. Shall have to find out if I can go there next week

Georgesgran great news! Maw thanks again for opening up.
Hope everyone has the best day possible.

Gwenisgreat1 Sun 06-Jun-21 10:28:31

Good Luck tomorrow Alizarin

Good morning from a slightly damp Worcestershire. I'm still in bed! I'm recovering from my day in the forest with my grandson yesterday. We split and stacked logs then did some repair work on some signposts. After lunch we tagged along with a group of students who are working in the conservation of old buildings industry. They came to the forest to learn about the oak used in timber framed structures and to visit the sawyard on a nearby farm. Grandson and I learnt a lot and it was nice walking through the woods with him chatting about his plans for the future.
Today will be a bit more relaxed. ?
Congratulations Georgesgran on the safe arrival of your new grandson. I hope you lots of happy times with him.
We are awaiting our daughters first baby due on the 14th of this month. Exciting times!

Have a good day everyone.

Lins1066 Sun 06-Jun-21 10:48:20

Maw and GF you are no help ?

GrannySomerset Sun 06-Jun-21 10:48:25

Late to the party this morning. No reason, just that getting the day started takes a while and then a walk round the garden to check on what is coming out and what needs to be cut back. Cloudy after some overnight rain, so probably not an outdoors day. A generally cheerful thread today which is good so hope the day is kind to us all and that the travellers have no dramas.

muse Sun 06-Jun-21 10:51:03

Congratulations Georgesgran I’m glad all went well.

Hope all goes well tomorrow Alizarin. Wondering which hospital you’re going to. I had my hip done at Hayle but that’s NHS. Such lovely staff. Excellent physio.
