It was introduced in 1972 and has remained firmly fixed at £10 all these years.

I suppose Rachel Reeves considers it a token kindness that makes up for the Winter Fuel Allowance being axed. Maybe we should doff our caps and curtsey in grateful thanks.......

I've just checked the code which appeared and it doesn't seem to be anything to do with the Christmas bonus. I don't honestly know if I can be bothered. My idea of a good time isn't listening to 'information messages' from the Pension Service followed by hours of cheesy music.

Maybe I'll receive it anyway, so it will be a nice surprise.

The sum next to the code should help tell you what it is. The Christmas Bonus code is, sadly, XB.

There is a list of DWP codes you can download if you Google it but there is no CR on it.

The Bonus was being paid in week commencing in 2 December.

If anyone is having trouble staying warm it might be worth seeing if you have a Green Doctor team near you.

They describe themselves as "energy efficiency experts offering free, impartial advice to help people take control of their bills and save energy in the home."

They are my newest discovery and seem to be a Not For Profit Company. They work with councils and companies that offer help as far as I can tell.

Thanks.
That's useful to know.

We have an elderly support group in our town too. It may be worth checking if there is one in your town.

I wonder what this code on my statement is all about. It looks like Pension Credit, but I don't receive Pension Credit and have never applied for it because I know I wouldn't receive anything. It looks to me as though the computer was having an off day.
