The foolishness of anti-vaxxers
(262 Posts)My adult gd won’t have it for this reason despite me asking about the chemicals going into her body when she dyes her hair , anyway I am going to send her this,

I think it must just be some states. My son lives in Illinois and they’ve been fairly relaxed about it all.
Some of his friends and neighbours don’t intend to have them.
He and the family had to jabs as they work in healthcare, colleges etc Plus, he had booked to come home last month for a holiday, and they all needed to be jabbed to travel.
Not to mention the chemicals involved if the die
Embalming fluid contains formaldehyde, methanol, glutaraldehyde and so much more.
Better to take the chemical in the jab now to avoid all the rest later.

Another question:
Why did a healthy 50 year old double vaccinated woman die from Covid if the vaccines are effective?
Why did a man of similar age, ill and in hospital for another reason, caught Covid in hospital, have no symptoms?
Because nothing in life is certain, only more or less probable.

I must admit that I was so pleased to hear today's news from Greece (fines for the unvaccinated) - and Austria considering fines too.
Normally, I'm all for freedom of choice. That doesn't extend to freedom to infect others during a pandemic, though.
For me, that’s too slippery a slope.
Make it harder to go places, but fines abs mandatory vaccines do not sit well with me for the general public. It’s too easy to then move to other medical procedures. Lack of abortion access for one.
I say this as someone who did receive their vaccination as soon as possible despite earlier wavering
*not wavering on getting it, but just getting it straight away vs waiting a handful of months
I don't understand the anti vaxxers logic either. If they were sick they would take the prescribed medicines. Would they check to see whether they were harmful?
I've mentioned it before that here in France we have to show our covid passports whenever we go to the theatre, cinema, club, restaurant etc. If that rule was instituted in the UK I'm sure that the anti vaxxers would fall into line fairly quickly.
I do wonder if those refusing the vaccine are against all vaccinations or just the covid ones?
If it’s the latter what is the main objection?
I’ve repeatedly read the accusation that the covid ones haven’t been tested in the long term, that they’ve only been around for a year.
That is true but the vaccine only stays in our bodies a short length of time, possibly a couple of days, (someone may know how long) so we’ve surely had masses of time to assess results over the hundreds of millions of people worldwide who’ve had them.
Very interesting photo! I am fairly relaxed about the non vaccinated to be honest, I am triple vaccinated, take sensible precautions without affecting the way I live my life and frankly, they are more at risk from me infecting them unwittingly than the other way round. There are tragic anomalies such as the blood clots mentioned, and I am sure if someone in my family suffered from a similar reaction I would have given a great deal of thought to my own vaccination decision. I am very strongly against any kind of punishment for non vaccination as it will just enforce alienation and potentially make heroes out of anti-vaxxers, and I honestly don't see how vaccination can be made compulsory; the inevitable end to that has to be the knock on the door and forcible injection and that is too dreadful to even think about. We all take chances with life; getting in a car, having a baby, climbing a mountain, refusing a vaccine, drinking one too many glasses of wine, and I really don't want to see some sort of morality panel deciding who qualifies for NHS treatment.
My gd has a stupid mother does that count as genetics
On a further point, re vaccinations
Surely, the only real way of dealing with this Pandemic is for ALL of the world to have full access to the vaccination programme.
As, at present comparative few numbers have this and the majority do not - this must lead to the increasing number of, and strengthening of the mutations of the virus.
We need to be clamouring for all First World countries to be sending many of these vaccinations to poorer countries. We really are one world and to beat this thing, needs to be on a one-world basis.
It’s no use unless the countries receiving the vaccines distribute them and the people agree to be vaccinated. Both huge problems.
Another problem in third world countries, though, along with not having enough vaccine, seems to be vaccine hesitancy as they don’t trust their governments.
And some governments are corrupt and will sell the vaccines on.

Any evidence for that GSM?
Anyway I don't care as long as somebody gets them.
Sago, all NHS staff will be vaccinated by April. What do anti Vaxers fear they are going to get from the vaccine,?and Why. Why do they think they know better than the scientists? Are they not scared of dying in such a pain full way? Why do they prefer a self made prison to life? Do they think the nurses, consultants and doctors have all banded together to pedal lies, they have been vaccinated. They don’tmind NHS working, bus drivers, food producers, supermarkets and delivery drivers enabling tgem to work or stay at home are they really so much more valuable than all them. They should be refused entry to things, pubs and shops if not vaccinated for our protection.
i had a laugh when i read about the micro-chip to see what i got up to, well my twice weekly trips to morrisons and poundland both 3 mins from my home and rest of the time reading or watching youtube, they would fall asleep with boredom as for the anti-vaxxers i will never understand them, unless you have a medical reason for not getting the vaccine then you should be ashamed of yourself, i refused to be around certain family because there reason for not getting there jags was ....can't be bothered and i don't have time and this person has a small child with medical problems.

Well said, GillT57
I think the only way to deal with anti vaxers is to make life as difficult as possible for them. Make vaccine proof mandatory for entry into all public venues, pubs, restaurants, clubs, cinemas, theatres, hotels, public transport etc,. Make it illegal to travel unvaccinated. Sooner or later it’s easier to get vaccinated.

Not sure I agree. There is evidence that some African governments are corrupt. I think it’s the responsibility of the richer nations to ensure reliable vaccine programmes for poorer countries otherwise we’re never going to be rid of Covid.
I think that some people in the third world countries are reluctant to take them because the west has tried out various drugs on them, without them knowing what they are and what they are for.
Allsprts NHS staff are not all currently vaccinated, April is 4 months away.
Our local NHS trust has declared patients cannot have visitors, (this time last year a dear friend was on life support, his wife could only visit to turn off the machine) yet the staff may not have had a single vaccine
It’s barbaric.
I am vaccinated twice as are most of my friends and family, however plenty of them still caught COVID.
We live in a democracy and should not be pressured to have a vaccine, it is dreadful that anyone could ever contemplate it being OK for any government to fine citizens for not having a vaccine.
It's been mentioned that the EU are discussing mandatory vaccines
If governments are so corrupt that they will divert food and money sent to help their starving people (well documented) and use them for weaponry or to line their own pockets, what hope is there for vaccines reaching the people who desperately need them?
