The King has reportedly evicted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage, their residence in Windsor. Buckingham Palace let the Duke and www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1740755/royal-family-meghan-markle-prince-harry-frogmore-cottage-king-charles of Susses know about the plan to take away the property from them just days after Harry's tell-all memoir, Spare, was published worldwide, it has been claimed.

Sorry, that first line was for Callistemon21, not Norah.

I've read that Harry will lose his ability to deputise as a counsellor of state, if he has no permanent domicile.

eazybee Fri 03-Mar-23 07:12:03

Ah.
There's method in his madness.
That would be a very good thing, Namsnanny. Hope it is true.

She said she wore neutral colors for a reason

Ah, she said.
Diana wore a lot of neutral colours too.

Both Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have been relegated as Counsellors of State. Prince Harry is no longer eligible due to him living in the USA and Prince Andrew has been dropped due to his associations with Epstein

Currently they are (as from 12/12/2022) as per the The Regency Act of 1937.

The Queen Consort
The Prince of Wales
Princess Beatrice
Princess Anne
Prince Edward

Before you judge, listen to 'Harry, Meghan and the Media', a series of podcasts on BBC Sounds. The series is a real eye-opener.

I come from a large family, where there is this and that. Family will always stick together, no matter in what circumstances. These are only stories we are hearing about the Royal Family, but we really don’t know what is going on behind the closed doors. Amongst it all, they are still a FAMILY.

Cossy Fri 03-Mar-23 11:18:01

I’d really rather P Andrew had his £250,000 annual allowance stopped immediately ! The second the “sex” scandal hit it should have been stopped. I understand one his daughters currently resides at Frogmore, assuming she’s paying the rent now. Personal opinion only but I think this is a knee jerk reaction to “the book” and whatever we feel about this I think we need to remember H’s mother had a book published with her full approval and went on TV to do an interview, as did his father, now King. Perhaps letting the dust settle for all concerned might have been a better idea ? I just don’t know confused

We do know what Harry has said on tv and written though, don't we?

I suspect the king is looking at how it appears to the public in these straitened times that a disgraced non-working royal is living in a huge mansion and that H and M have a lovely house but live in America. William lives in a pretty modest house I believe. It’s good that the optics are being considered. Charles is far from unaware.

Completely agree with your first part, but from what I know (& I could be wrong) William & Kate have more than one property, and whilst I agree by comparison to Andrew their home is modest, compared to most of us it certainly isn’t smilegrin

Smileless2012 Fri 03-Mar-23 11:31:42

Charles is far from unaware I agree GSM and think that he'd have wanted the Queen to act accordingly but probably knew that she wouldn't have.

I suspected that when she died the 'safety net' H & M had would be weakened, that H being the youngest son of the king would not be a blank cheque.

Probably because they paid for the rent, the renovation and it was a safe place for them when they come to the UK.

They've spent about 3 days in the house so far. Ridiculous to have it there completely unused. They should repurpose the house Andrew is currently occupying to provide a safe place refugees.

Callistemon21 Fri 03-Mar-23 11:33:19

I think the home they live in which is part of the Crown Estate, their 'tied cottage', is modest, Cossy

Anmer Hall is a private residence.

That wouldn't be practical on many levels.

Annierob Fri 03-Mar-23 11:36:43

Not surprise if this is true. However Harry and Meghan did pay for very expensive renovations and were gifted the lease by the Queen. Also if Harry does not have a residence in UK it does affect his tax affairs and residency in USA. Therefore I expect this will be a shock to them.
However Harry knows ´betraying’ the Royal Family is not a good move but he did it anyway. In previous times he could have been beheaded.
Time for Harry and Meghan to live a normal life.

Dillonsgranma Fri 03-Mar-23 11:38:06

Good for Charles. About time the whinger and the ginger were slapped down. Dreadful couple

Have they paid rent since they left for Canada?

Apparently they paid rent for years in advance so must be due a refund.
I’d rather see Frogmore lived in, even by awful Andrew than standing empty. My guess is that the Prince and Princess of Wales will eventually move into Royal Lodge, they need the space more than Andrew for their young family.
I also think the eviction of the Sussex’s has William’s fingerprints all over it. He looks more bad tempered as he gets older. Has the same permanent scowl as his younger brother, I hope this isn’t down to spite.
I’m still a royalist though 😬

Rosina Fri 03-Mar-23 11:40:08

Harry and Meghan haven't quite been 'evicted' - they are not living there. I also read yesterday that their lease on the property expires in March and they had been considering whether to renew it. Why fund a house that you have used so rarely - it doesn't make sense. The usual silly hysteria and emotive language is flying about. I'm surprised we haven't had 'King kicks Harry and Meghan out onto the street, Meghan crawls away, sobbing'. Another non story from the media.

enabenn Fri 03-Mar-23 11:40:13

Why are we wasting time and energy talking about these entitled people when so many people are struggling. Save energy for a more worthy cause.

Smileless2012 Fri 03-Mar-23 11:42:30

Or 'King makes son and his family homeless' Rosina.

Omid Scobie has said that two other members of the RF are appalledhmm. Not named of course so maybe it's Archie and Lillibet, can't think of anyone else it could be.

The York girls? They’re very close to Harry and of course they won’t want their father to be downsized to FC.

Murphy52 Fri 03-Mar-23 11:47:36

Castles, palaces, lodges, cottages ,
Meanwhile there are thousands in shop doorways, cardboard boxes, sleeping bags with no choice,

Deedaa Fri 03-Mar-23 11:48:00

Whatever you feel about the Royal Family it does seem ridiculous for a large house in a beautiful setting to sit vacant in case two people, who have shown no interest in coming to the UK, should suddenly want to spend the night there. I gather Meghan is upset because they were "safe" at Frogmore which rather contradicts what they said when they left.
