I wish they were all young men, then it could be put down to a mob mentality on a hot summers day, but from the pictures I saw they weren’t. Particularly at the London march/protest the following day, there were many older men there, and some were arrested for fighting the police. I’d imagine a lot of them have their own families, it’s impossible to fathom their rationale.

DH has just told me that one arrested today on suspicion of arson in Hartlepool is 11 .

Perhaps they look young to nanna8 and me.

That is of no surprise, there are many many problems in Hartlepool I am afraid.

I hate violence- but we could label all riots and protesters and thugs, look back over the last few months at all protests and riots the violence has always been the same, no different

They have no business even being in the area. Film them, arrest them, jail them, make them at their own expense repair what is practical and fine them towards the damge they can't fix. Take them to Church, Mosque and Temple - they might learn something. (Sorry, just appalled at what violent men get away with).

Imo They need to use Water Cannons on these yobs, perhaps put a dye in the water that sticks to skin, give three warnings for bystanders etc to leave, then let them have it

I wish they could jail the ringleaders when they catch them. There is no space in the jails though, which enables them to continue without that threat - and they can currently also escape the country altogether too.

They don’t have a rationale. There are people are stirring all this up on social media, these idiots are just their puppets.

Couldn’t agree more, it’s despicable behaviour based on no evidence that can attribute this tragedy to any religious or ethnic group. Shame on the hot heads who feel they are entitled to behave in this way. The grieving families the community and the police deserve better. EDL a dangerous group of psychos looking for any excuse to vent their hate.
My heartfelt condolences to all victims touched by this situation.

There is a number of people in the country who are just looking for trouble and latch onto any cause. Get drunk first and then go in fighting. Every peaceful protest gets them. They are the type that cause trouble at football matches. Odd way of getting their kicks.

I saw a clip on tv of the man who has been on trial in Romania recently. I won't dignify him by naming him. I thought he was in prison rather than being free to post his vile opinions on the internet to his thousands of followers.

The EFL doesn’t really exist anymore, certainly not as the organised force politicians insist on blaming. These are yobs, plain and simple and, as we have seen, there are plenty of those around of various persuasions. Special fury is always directed at the mysterious ‘far right’ by this socialist country of course. I don’t condone violence in any shape or form but it is noticeable that politicians and police mostly take this stance whilst never calling out the ‘far left’! And what about the pro Gaza marches in London? Jewish people and those who oppose the ‘cause’ intimidated while the Met sit on their hands? The Leeds riots where the police ran away and there was very little done about those who besieged a police station! You can fool some of the people some of the time etc! This ‘far right’ blaming and pearl clutching by politicians like Starmer who have signally failed to act in previous incarnations (remember Rochdale?) don’t fool a lot of people for a moment! And no, I’m not ‘far right’!

I hope all involved in managing this disgraceful incident are safe and well, and with their families.
I can only imagine the distress and worry this has caused.

"Who they were" as regards who the Far right are was discussed and groups described in detail and example and pix given upthread but trouble is, its page 13 now!

Paul Embry who is a voice on the left that i pretty much agree with on everything has just summed up the issue with the way far right has been used. I am paraphrasing now, 'if you call Brexit far right, people who raise concerns about borders as far right, people who say women need single sex spaces as far right then dont be surprised when people doubt your words when you describe people as far right'.

Firstly I think it's terrible to riot when people are grieving for dead children.
Having said that there are many many people in this country who are not happy about mass illegal immigration via boats. As Starmer has stopped the Rwanda deportation project, has no plan on what he's doing instead, has stopped winter fuel payments, has ordered many new houses to be built etc people are very concerned with what he's doing. And some extremists are now taking matters into their own hands. I disagree with the disgusting violence against police and police dogs but I'm not exactly surprised by it

My daughter lives in Southport and has colleagues who were affected by the murders. She went to the peaceful vigil and was then terrified by the ensuing violence. She had a police helicopter hovering outside her window for hours.
