Really riled about this. A poster started a thread earlier today about bossy pisters trying to control threads. A lot of other posters agreed and said they too had often been made to feel uncomfortable, belittled or jeered at by a minority of posters.

A couple of posters then came on accusing the OP of stirring it and saying people should Name names. Other pisters quite rightly pointed out that this was inappropriate and against rules. The thread was then abruptly zapped as 'not being in the spirit...'

Concerned, I started a thread wondering about the zapping and requesting an explanation. Again a majority of posters agreedand also asjed for an explanation. Again, a couple of posters came on saying they didn't like the original thread, and also objected to my thread.

Once again HQ zapped the thread with no proper explanation. What is going on here!

What's the dog done Casdon?

He probably wants a long walkies and not a short sniffies but he hasn't been paying attention to the weather forecast!

I don't understand the William Morris reference

The reason given for the deletion of the thead was that it conributed noting useful or beautiful to GN which is William Morris 'Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful' - William Morris.
Never noticed this on other posts grin

I don't understand the William Morris reference

which one? grin

trisher was referring to a William Morris quote: have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful

but he also said: Love is enough: though the World be a-waning, and the woods have no voice but the voice of complaining.

Casdon, is your dog worried by the weather?

Callistemon21 Sat 19-Feb-22 18:02:24

I'm much more prosaic:
Do I love it, do I want it, do I need it?

Then put it back in the cupboard while I have a think about it.

Galaxy Sat 19-Feb-22 18:02:43

Oh that's made me laugh a bit trisher. The endless troll family threads dont seem that beautiful or useful to me.

BlueBelle Sat 19-Feb-22 18:04:45

Yet again GN believe they know what is right for us I do get tired of being treated like someone who has age but no brain

The dog hates the rain, he won’t go out for a walk unless you actually drag him when it’s raining, he just keeps going rigid or sitting down. He won’t walk on the grass in the garden either, he’s a wuss. He’s been in a lot for two days because of the weather, but he’s got lots of pent up energy, which he is dispersing by wanting to constantly be in my face. However much you play with him is not enough! He was also up at 6.00 this morning barking for attention, which is very unusual. He is however very beautiful.

Josieann Sat 19-Feb-22 18:17:16

My dog is beautiful, but a bit stroppy today due to the weather. His name is the same as Harry's and he is ginger. I've just tried him with a (gentle, not cruel) collar that stops him barking. Perhaps I could lend it out, the collar I mean.

I'm getting frustrated with DH - asking him for help or even just a decision on throwing out 'stuff' but getting nowhere.
It's stuff he's collected or inherited.

Well what have I missed now?

Glad I’m not the only one who misses all the controversy.

William Morris had a temper so wild it provoked seizures

What evidence do you have for stating that?

JaneJudge Tue 22-Feb-22 13:40:21

Google it. It is even on his wikipedia page

bonbons01 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:06:14

That explains your statement, thank you, but doesn't make it accurate. Wikipedia is incorrect, William Morris' did not have seizures but his daughter did have epilepsy. Anger does not provoke a seizure.

JaneJudge Tue 22-Feb-22 14:12:46

temporal lobe seizures can have a pre cursor of behavioural change prior to seizure

bonbons01 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:16:07

What do you know about temporal lobe epilepsy?
Mood changes may occur but they do not provoke a seizure.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 22-Feb-22 14:19:31

Jane didn’t say they did. She meant they can be a warning sign of an upcoming seizure. Having had epilepsy for over 50 years I know a little about it.

JaneJudge Tue 22-Feb-22 14:22:59

My daughter has them, so only from the perspective of her seizures but hers are precursored by behaviours - some negative.

bonbons01 Tue 22-Feb-22 14:36:05

Sorry German shepherds mum but that is what JaneJudge has said temper ... provoked seizures. I understand now, and thank you for clarifying JaneJudge, that you didn't mean that rage caused the seizures but rather the anger was a change in mood indicative. ie pre-ictal, of an imminent seizure.
I do know about epilepsy too, particularly left temporal lobe epilepsy.

It does in this household. Seizure / thrombo / hissy fit, the whole nine yards grin
