How judgmental are you about people.

Gransnet seems to be a very judgmental place today - from dissing people's choice of daily paper to 'guessing' why someone disliked a couple on Strictly.

I imagine that most people on here would see themselves as being very tolerant but does that tolerance only stretch to people who think in a similar way?

Now if anyone were judgmental towards my dogs on here, then that would be completely different.
Your cat is so funny Aveline.

Ha! Can I be picky and point out how many people are spelling ‘judgemental’ wrong!
(Light heated joke - honest!).
?

Urmstongran Sun 07-Nov-21 20:15:34

Even funnier ... I couldn’t spell ‘hearted’!

I spelt it wrong but autocorrect corrected it.

(Yes, I have 'A' level English ? believe it or not.)

If you dont like people because of the newspaper they read you arent tolerant

I've found that those who loudly protest their tolerance credentials are usually the most rigid of thinkers, rarely able to expand intelligently on why they think/feel as they do.

Smileless2012 Sun 07-Nov-21 20:23:06

That has been my experience too Chewbacca.

This thread was chosen to 'judge' others, nothing else. Pot... kettle, truly.

I am offended that you should post that Kali.

I am shocked at the amount of intolerance shown by some people of gn. It seems to be very much in evidence lately. But, i think it not something you can accuse me of. I am only intolerant of intolerance.

I am sorry if this has shocked you. It seems to me that this thread was posted in a direct response to a post on another thread, and I was quite offended and shocked that it seems very personal, and not 'general'. Lemon and some others have made it even more so.

Lemon and some others have made it personal? How? Who are the ‘some others’ ?
I haven’t made anything personal Kali but simply given my opinion on the subject of the OP.
I don’t mind what newspaper you read or don’t like and you are as entitled to your own opinion as the next poster.

No worries, both versions are in fact correct.

It seemed to be a generalised comment on GN at the present time.

I read the observer and decided today that it is tedious beyond belief. I have saved anyone the bother of judging my choice.

kittylester Sun 07-Nov-21 20:53:03

Read the op!

Having read the OP, I can confirm that my tolerance does not stretch to tolerating things that are inherently and demonstrably intolerable.

I don’t think anyone on here is asking you to.?

What's the OP?

Actually probably we all are to some extent. It’s just usually that it’s in our heads. Not typed out for all to see.

Scones Sun 07-Nov-21 21:14:34

Sometimes people telling you you should be more tolerant do so in an attempt to stretch the limits of what is tolerable to include their own intolerable behaviour.

Calistemon Sun 07-Nov-21 21:14:36

That's probably true, Urmstongran.
